How do I solve the 500 Internal Error on my website?

Reason of 500 Internal Error

  1. If your WordPress and plugin is not updated.
  2. If your plugin script is corrupted.
  3. If your hosting server is down.
  4. If your WordPress unable to connect to the database.

How to solve 500 Internal Error problem?

If it is a internal server problem then contact your hosting provider.

If this is not a server problem then you have some mis-configuration in installation.

  1. Login to your cpanel.
  2. Go to file manager and your wp-admin directory.
  3. Open wp-config.php file and check the database name and password.
  4. Now go to your database wizard and check the database username and password is matching or not. If not then write the correct database username and password to the wp-config.php file.
  5. Go to your wp-content folder. change the name of plugins folder to anything and save. If the problem comes from a plugin this step will disable all the plugins.
  6. Now back to wp-admin folder. There is a .htaccess file delete it. Because if there is some rewrite rules are written this will disable all.
  7. Now try to login your wordpress dashboard.
  8. If all the things okay then you can access your dashboard.
  9. Go to settings > Permalinks and press save button. This will create a new .htaccess file on your wp-admin.
  10. Now activate plugin one by one and check the page is loading or not. This process will help you to identify the corrupted plugin.
  11. Remove the plugin.
