Captain Amarinder Singh approves 33% reservation for women

Captain Amarinder Singh approves 33% reservation for women: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Saturday, in a cabinet meeting, approved 33% reservation for women in all state level jobs, including contractual and permanent.

It is also being announced that reservation for women in jobs would also be increased to 50% for the panchayat raj institutions and urban local bodies. Amarinder Singh has already inducted two out of his three women MLAs in his first eight-member council of ministers.

Some other major discloses by the important cabinet members of congress are:

  • Free power will continue to farmers to ensure heavy debt doesn’t lead to suicides. The cabinet members decided to provide one house to every freedom fighter at the village or town, besides allocation of 300 units of free electricity every month.
  •  Freedom fighters will also be provided one out-of-turn tubewell connection and would be exempted from toll tax.  Freedom-fighters and journalists in Punjab will also be free from paying toll tax .
  • Finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal disclosed that Amarinder Singh would soon meet the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take some important decision for farmer debt as well as solve the SYL canal dispute.
  •  Another significant decision, the cabinet decided to do away with the “VIP culture” by removing red, amber and blue beacons from official vehicles of all state MLAs, ministers, bureaucrats and political appointees, and discard the practice of laying of foundation stones while inaugurating public projects. The beacons would be allowed only on official vehicles of the chief minister, judges of The Punjab and Haryana High Court, and ambulances and fire tenders only.
  • To fulfill the promise of addressing the drug menace in four weeks, the Cabinet decided to set up a Special Task Force in the Chief Ministers’s Office.
  •  FM Manpreet Badal said a new transport policy will be introduced in the next meeting to put an end to monopoly on private buses cartel
